Sandwip Beach – Chittagong

Sandwip (English: Sandwip) is an island (Sandwip Samodra Soikot) in the Chittagong district in the Bay of Bengal off the southeast coast of Bangladesh. It is located at the mouth of the river Meghna. It is a very ancient island in Bangladesh.

Sandwip by river from Dhaka

Sandwip by road from Dhaka

To reach Sandwip, take any Dhaka-Chittagong long distance bus by road. You have to get down the kumira. Ask your bus to get off at the Kumira Steamer Ghat stand. From there go by auto or rickshaw to Kumira Steamer Ghat. From here you have to cross the Sandwip Channel by water to Guptachhara Ghat in Sandwip. This waterway is the only way to reach Sandwip from the mainland.

Sandwip by road from Chittagong

Kumira can come directly from anywhere in Chittagong city. Easy and can save taxi time. The maximum cost will be 200 to 250 taka.

Sandwip from Kumira Ghat
