Shilaidah is a village in the Kushtia District. It is in the Kumarkhali Upazila. The village used to be called Khorshedpur, and it is near the river Padma. In 1807, this area was given to Rabindranath’s grandfather, Prince Dwarkanath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore came to this area as a zamindar in 1889. He ran the zamindari from this place until 1901. While sitting here, he wrote his well-known books, Sonar Tari, Chitra, Chaitali, Gitanjali, etc. Many people came to see Rabindranath here, including Jagdish Chandra Bose, Dwijendralal Roy, Pramath Chowdhury, and many others.

The poet Rabindranath Tagore’s kuthibari in Shilaidah of Kumarkhali, Kushtia, is now busy with visitors. Every day, a lot of people from all over the country and the world come to visit. People from all over the country, including school, college, and university students and office and court workers, are coming here for a picnic. Kuthibari, where the poet Rabindranath Tagore is remembered, is busy with tourists from both India and other countries, but it is still not considered a national tourist centre. In the meantime, because the government hasn’t been doing its job, places like Kachari Bari, which is a memorial to Kabi Guru, are going to be closed down. The Kuthibari of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore is another place that people visit when they come to Kushtia Kumarkhali. Even though there are tourists from both inside and outside the country most of the year, the number of tourists goes up several times during the tourist season.

How to get there:

The cottage of Rabindranath is about 20 kilometres from the city of Kushtia. You can easily and cheaply get from Kushtia city to Shilaidah Kuti by auto rickshaw, CNG bike, easy bike, and other vehicles.
