The river enters Laxmipur in Raipur upazila through the north-western corner of Laxmipur district from the south-eastern side of Chandpur district. Every year in the monsoon, the water of the Meghna river increases and causes floods. The river Meghna flows through all four of the five upazilas of Laxmipur district. The Katakhali, Rahmat Khali and Bhulua rivers merge into the Meghna to the west.
