Hajiganj Big Mosque – Chandpur

Hajigonj Boro Masjid / Mosque is a unique example of rare craftsmanship. One of the largest mosques in the subcontinent,It is known as the largest mosque for jummah tul bidha Congregation.Hajiganj historic big mosque located in a large area in the heart of Hajigonj upazila under the merciful and charming Chandpur district.

At present, this huge mosque with a total area of ​​28,405 square feet has a minaret 188 feet high. There are stairs to reach the top of the minaret. Numerous devotees of Musulli climb to the top of the minaret. At present, thousands of Muslims perform their prayers in the mosque.

At the turn of the eleventh century in Bengal, an old man named Makim Uddin (RA) came to the present Hajiganj area of ​​Chandpur with his family from the holy Arab land for the purpose of propagating Islam. The area was named Makimabad after him after his conversion to Islam. The Haji shop was established by Haji Moniruddin (Manai Haji), the last man of his dynasty, as the Sunnat Rasool. Haji Ahmad Ali Patwari, the great-grandson of Manai Haji (RA), is the founder and knower of Hajiganj historical big mosque.

Hajiganj Historic Big Mosque is a one-storey thatched house of worship and then a two-storeyed tin mosque. The foundation stone of the pucca mosque was laid in the holy hands of Hazrat Maulana Abul Farah Jainpuri (RA) on 17 Ashwin 1337 BS. After the completion of the work, the Azan of the first Friday prayers of 10 Agrahayan of Bengal 1344 was given in the main mosque of marble stone. The Friday prayers were attended by the then Chief Minister of undivided Bengal AKM Fazlul Haque, Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Nawab Mosharraf Hossain and Nawabzada Khwaja Nasrullah. Pir Kamel Alhaj Hazrat Maulana Abul Bashar Jainpuri (RA) led the prayers on that day.
