Foy’s Lake – Chittagong

Foy’s Lake is an artificial lake located in Khulshi area near Pahartali railway station in Chittagong. Located 8 km away from Zero Point. It was excavated in 1924 under the supervision of the Assam Bengal Railway Authority and was then known as Pahartali Lake. The lake was later named after a British engineer who helped design it. Large in size (336 acres), the lake is built by the construction of a horizontal dam in a narrow valley between the tops of the hills. The horizontally constructed dam has created this lake by changing the direction of flow of water coming down from the hills in the northern part of Chittagong city. Next to Foy’s Lake is Batali Hill, the highest hill in Chittagong city. Many local and foreign tourists visit the lake every year due to its beautiful environment and natural beauty.

There is so much to see in this lake. As there are various rides for children, adults will also find mountains, lakes all in a captivating environment.There are hills around the region and in the middle there are Arunamayi, Godhuli, Akashmani, Mandakini, Dakshini, Alaknanda lake. Rows over rows of boats can be seen on the shores of the lake. It takes ten minutes to get on the boat. After that you will see green hills on both sides, occasionally a couple of deer and various unnamed birds. Along with this there is a place for deer to roam in a pleasant environment. A small zoo has been set up at the entrance of Foy’s Lake to attract tourists. The biggest attraction of Foy’s lake  is the beauty of the lake and the surrounding hills.

An amusement park has recently opened at foy’s lake. The lake has boat trips, landscaping, restaurants, floating stage concerts, scenic walks and many other fun and enjoyable things. Visitors can take a boat trip to enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake. There are 2 high slides in the amusement park and they are all high speed roller coasters and bumper boats. There is a leisure center here for people of different ages and tastes. People can have fun and excitement in foy’s lake  as well as peace and tranquility. ‘SeaWorld’ is a water theme park at foy’s lake  in the heart of Chittagong. Splash Pool, Water Coaster Rider and everything that can be expected as a world class theme park is in Sea World.

Although the entrance to Foy’s Lake  Entertainment World has completely changed from the Chittagong side, the natural beauty of the lake is still very clear. So many visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the amusement park and many more enjoy the natural beauty of foy’s lake .

Saturday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m.

How to go:

If you want to go to foy’s lake  from Dhaka, you have to go to Chittagong first. You can go to Chittagong by BRTC from Kamalapur terminal and from Saidabad bus station by Saudia, Greenline, Silk Line, Sohag, Baghdad Express, Unique etc buses you can go to Chittagong. AC buses of Greenline (02-7100301), Sohag (02-934447), Saudia (01197015610), TR (02-8031189), Hanif (01713402671) etc. go to Chittagong. Rent 850-1100 taka. RS Alam, Saudia, Unique, Shyamoli, Hanif, Eagle etc. The fare of ordinary bus transport is 400-500 taka.

Chittagong can be reached by road and rail from Sylhet. Greenline transport AC and non AC buses go to Chittagong by road. Apart from this, the Intercity Paharika Express leaves Sylhet Railway Station at 10:15 am every day except Saturday of the week, the Intercity Udayan Express at 9:20 pm every day except Sunday of the week and the Jalalabad Express leaves the Chittagong Express at 10:30 pm every week of the week. Rent 175 to 1200 taka.

 

Chittagong by train or railway

On the Dhaka-Chittagong route, the train leaves Mahanagar Prabhati Dhaka at 7:40 am, Chattala Express leaves at 9:20 am, Mahanagar Godhuli leaves Dhaka at 3 pm, Subarna Express leaves Dhaka at 4:20 pm and Turna leaves Dhaka at 11 pm. Rent 160 to 1100 taka.

Chittagong: By air or by air

From Dhaka, Bangladesh Biman (02-9560151-10), GMG Airlines (02-8922248) and United Air (02-8957640), Regent Air (02-8953003) can be reached directly from Chittagong.

Foy’sLake from Chittagong

CNG will cost 60 to 70 taka from the GEC junction in Chittagong city. It will cost 40 taka in a rickshaw. You can’t go around in one afternoon, so if you have a one-day plan, it’s best to leave in the morning.

Where will you stay?

Foy’s Lake has its own management of luxury accommodation. There are great cottages and resorts on the shores of the lake by the hill. There are honeymoon cottages for newlyweds. However, if you wish, you can also visit Foy’s Lake from other residential hotels. Entry fee and ride cost are within reach. All rides including admission to Theme Park Foy’s Lake Concord Amusement World are 200 taka, all rides including Water Park Sea World Concord entry are 350 taka. Resort and cottage rent Tk 500 to Taka 7,000 per night at foy’s lake  Resort and Tk 2,500 to Tk 6,000 per night at the resort bungalow.

Besides, there are various quality hotels in Chittagong. Below are the names and addresses of some budget hotels. These are all standard but low budget hotels.

  1. Hotel Paramount, Station Road, Chittagong: Just opposite the new train station. In our opinion this is the best hotel on a budget.
