Dakshindihi is a peaceful community rich in natural beauty. Located on the southwestern border of the Khulna and Jessore districts, the village is about three kilometres north-west of the Phultola upazila headquarters.

Dakshindihi is very connected to the well-known Tagore family of Kolkata’s Jora Sanko. Sarada Sundari Devi, mother of Rabindranath Tagore, was a local. Dakshindihi is the mother of Rabindranath’s aunt, Tripura Sundari Devi, and his wife, Mrinalini Devi. The poet spent many childhood weekends at his maternal uncle’s home in Dakshindihi. He eventually made his way to Dakshindihi to tie the knot.
