Loading...In the old town of Noakhali in 1841, the late Imam Uddin Saudagar established the Jame Mosque on his own land. When the main city of Noakhali was lost in the river Meghna, that mosque was also lost in the river forever. The construction of the mosque started in 1950 when the old city of Noakhali was submerged in the river and a new city was being built at Maijdi.
Maijdi Jame Masjid is located in the heart of Noakhali city. To the west of the mosque is a large pond, to the south is the District School, to the north is Station Road and the building of the District Public Health Engineering and District Roads Department, to the east is the land of the Public Works Department.

Description:
The main area of this mosque is about 3 acres 80 decimal. The mosque was built in a small one-storey building with beautiful Muslim and indigenous folk art carvings and various Qur’anic verses and exhortations. The mosque is 130 feet long and 80 feet wide. The main building has three beautiful domes and nine high minarets built in Islamic architecture. Inside this mosque there are beautiful chandeliers. Chandeliers, lovely iron gates and numerous pieces of white stone have been preserved as the old mosque sank into the riverbed. They are now beautifying the present mosque. For the overall convenience of the devotees, modern toilets, bathrooms and ablution rooms have been constructed here.
