Jati tattik museum is the only ethnological museum in Chittagong, located in agrabad Chittagong, Bangladesh. Which is basically established for the daily life of different ethnic groups of Bangladesh and to nurture mutual understanding and cooperation. The museum displays materials on the history of the tribal people of Bangladesh.
Among the two ethnographic museums in Asia, the ethnographic museum in central Chittagong is one, the other is in Japan. It is also used in research. According to the museum authorities, 200-300 visitors, including local and foreign researchers, visit the museum every day.
The museum was opened to the public in 1974 after its establishment in 1965 at the initiative of the Bangladesh Department of Archeology. Later, between 1985 and 1995, the museum included two rooms.
The museum was inaugurated on January 9, 1974 by Yusuf Ali, the first Minister of Education in the Government of Independent Bangladesh.
The museum is divided into five sections with 4 galleries and 1 hall depicting the lifestyles of 29 different ethnic groups. Other ethnic groups in the Indian subcontinent including the Chittagong Hill Tracts include Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Chak, Tanchangya, Murang, Khumi, Garo, Bam, Pankho, Lusai, Kheyang, Manipuri, Khasia, Orao, Hajong, Mandai, Dhalu. Hodi , Palia, Koch, Rajbangshi, Saotal, Tipra and Simuji. The 3 galleries display a variety of items from 25 cultural groups, such as weapons, vases, clothes, boats, scissors, ornaments, bamboo pipes, etc., and the rest of the gallery displays lifestyles and models of some communities in India, Pakistan and Australia. The remains of the five groups of Pathan, Swati, Sindhi, Kafir and Punjabi in Pakistan have been preserved. Among the Indian ethnic groups are Adi, Muria, Includes Mizo and Futua. Hallroom maps and murals also provide insights into the various festivals and cultures of the tribes.Also noteworthy is the fragment of the Berlin Wall in Germany, which was demolished in 1989.
