Dulahajra Safari Park – Cox’s Bazar

Dulahazra Safari Park is located 48 km north of Cox’s Bazar district headquarters and 10 km south of Chakaria police station, in the Dulahazara block of the Fasiakhali range at the southern forest division of Cox’s Bazar district headquarters. Originally the park was established in 1999 by the Bangladesh Ministry of Forests and Environment As a deer breeding center. The safari park covers an area of ​​600 hectares. Dulahazara Safari Park, also known as Dulahazara Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Safari Park.

Some people don’t particularly love to call Dulahazra Safari Park a safari park because it has more sophisticated and artificial infrastructure rather than natural infrastructure.
The safari park is made up of a combination of well-known and unknown trees from the evergreen forest, a well mixed combination of exotic plants, fruit-herbaceous plants, and beautiful vegetation. Its shaded path, green forest, rows of known & unknown trees, birds and monkeys chirping all together is a wonderful feeling.

Standing in the WatchTower by the side of the road, you will see the boundless beauty of the entire park. There is a fence around the park so that wildlife can’t escape outside the park. There is also an internal fence inside the park, inside the enclosure, tigers, lions and herbivores live in a natural environment. Not only that, around the whole park you can see numerous sculptures of different animals that will fascinate you.

There is a display map on the left side of the main gate for an idea about the various sights inside the Safari Park very quickly. Inside the park, there are observation towers and guard posts for tourists to observe the other animals including tigers and lions.

The park has its own transportation system, you can take a minibus tour to see the whole park. However, it is better to walk around the whole park. After entering the park, two roads have gone to the left and right. If you start walking along the road on the left side, you will be able to walk around the whole park and come out on the right side road effortlessly.

The most interesting thing here is the observation tower. Although Dulahazara Safari Park was originally established as a deer breeding center, it is also home to tigers, lions, elephants, bears, hyenas, crocodiles, hippos, Maya deer, sambar deer, chitra deer, para deer etc. There are freshwater crocodiles in this park, as well as saltwater crocodiles. It would not be too late for anyone to understand that the animal sanctuary. Here are some cage-like houses inside, where wild animals can rest. And behind this cage there is the gate, through which they roam in the vast field behind.
The total number of wildlife protected in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park is 362. There are 149 mammals, 152 reptiles and 61 bird species. Mammals include tigers, lions, elephants, maya deer, para deer, wild boar, rabbits, Hanuman, bamboo bears, monkeys or jackals, tigers, wild cats, marble cats, cheetahs, monkeys, hedgehogs, bat, Shy Monkey, Accused Monkey, There are all kinds of animals and birds including apes, black bears, sambars, foxes, fish tigers and hippos.

As you walk around, you will see a very large orchid house. Different types of orchids are arranged there. Another attraction here is the Natural History Museum with an information center for travelers. There are also artificial statues of different animals here. It is an excellent place to bring wildlife in the midst of the natural environment of the tourists.

Hanif, Shyamoli, Modern transport from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar. You can also go from Chittagong if you want. From Cox’s Bazar city, you can take a CNG-powered auto rickshaw or a microbus or a public bus to the safari park.
