Madhupur National Park – Tangail

Modhupur National Park is one of the most biodiverse open parks in Bangladesh, located in the Modhupur Upazila of Tangail District. For nature lovers, this national park is one of the top tourist destinations in Bangladesh.

The main gate of the Modhupur National Park leads to a paved walking path through the forest. Along this path, you can visit the deer breeding center. The park is located 125 kilometers away from the capital city Dhaka, in Modhupur Upazila of Tangail. To reach it, take the road from Tangail to Mymensingh, and you will find the main gate of Modhupur National Park on the left after passing Rasulpur Mazaar. Next to the gate are the Modhupur National Park Range Office and the Assistant Forest Conservator’s office. You need to get permission from there to enter the forest. The park covers an area of 8,436 hectares and is primarily made up of a large portion of sal forests.

The park is adorned with various species of trees such as Sal, Bahera, Amloki, Halud, Amra, Jiga, Bhadi, Ashwath, Banyan, Serpentina, Shatomuli, Joya, Bidha, Azuki/Haragaza, Behulah, and many others. There are also various species of mountain potatoes, Shoti, and many unnamed climbers.

The forest is home to 11 species of mammals including monkeys, wild boars, rhesus macaques, and spotted deer. Additionally, the park is inhabited by 38 species of birds, 4 species of amphibians, and several species of reptiles. Right in the center of the forest, near the Lahariya Beat Office, is a deer breeding center.

How to Get There:

The only way to travel from Dhaka to Modhupur is by road. Buses from Binimoy and Shubhechha Transport operate on this route from the Mohakhali bus station in Dhaka. Buses run from morning to evening. The fare is around 250-300 BDT. Shubhechha Transport’s comfortable buses leave from Mohakhali at 5:00 PM. Mobile number: 01729702140.

Where to Stay:

Inside the park, there are several cottages at a place called Dokhla, including Dokhla Rest House, Chuniya Cottage, and Bakul Cottage. With permission from the authorities, you can stay here overnight. All facilities, including food, are available. It is an ideal place for a stay during your trip.
