Basulia, located in the scenic and natural beauty-filled Basail Upazila, is one of the most beautiful spots in Tangail. From Basail Bazar, it takes just three kilometers along the Naluya road to reach Basulia. On both sides of the road, you can see nothing but water stretching to the horizon. The area is home to a vast water body known as Chapra Bill.
During the monsoon, the bill is full of clear water, reflecting the sky’s image. The serene greenery and the blue waters of the bill offer a unique experience for visitors. The enchanting beauty of the water calling out to travelers is unmatched. Every day, thousands of tourists flock to Basulia to enjoy the peaceful boat rides through the vast expanse of the bill.
Various colorful boats are docked at the shore for tourists to board. The boats, some powered by a small engine, offer rides where visitors often bring music and speakers for entertainment. Throughout the day, the atmosphere is filled with singing and dancing. The vast expanse of water and the natural beauty of rural Bangladesh in the monsoon are the main attractions for visitors.
At the boat dock, there are boats of various sizes, with smaller ones able to accommodate 5 to 7 people comfortably. The hourly boat rental is around 200 Taka. It’s a fantastic spot for those who enjoy the open sky, fresh air, and clear water. For groups, it’s an affordable way to spend a beautiful afternoon.
In the middle of the bill stands a large Hijal tree. On your right while approaching, you can spot this ancient tree, which has an interesting backstory. The tree wasn’t originally from the area; it was brought from Assam many years ago. According to local legend, when the tree was cut by the landowner, blood started flowing from the cut. Those who tried to cut the tree reportedly died, vomiting blood.
