Sureswar Darbar Sharif – Shariatpur

Sureswar Darbar Sharif, located in the Sureswar village near the Padma River in Naria Upazila of Shariatpur, holds a rich and historical significance. The Darbar Sharif is associated with the revered Aulia Sureswar, whose legacy has greatly contributed to the spiritual history of the region. The area, previously part of the larger Faridpur district, was once known as Vikrampur and Khalilabad Sureswar Pargana, areas once ruled by prominent Hindu figures like Chand Ray and Kedar Ray. This region was part of the greater Dhaka district before it became a separate administrative entity under the British rule, later included in the Faridpur district.

Historically, the region was known as Vikrampur, and during the time of British rule, it was separated from Dhaka and placed under Faridpur. The name “Sureswar” itself holds a unique history and significance, contributing further to the cultural and spiritual identity of the area.
