In recent times, the name “Kashimpur” has gained political significance due to the location of the “Kashimpur Jail,” where political prisoners are held. However, Kashimpur is also home to a deserted and forgotten Zamindar Bari (Landlord House), much like many other such estates, now neglected and left to decay.
The Kashimpur Zamindar House was originally established by Rai Bahadur Kedar Nath Lahiri, the Zamindar of Kashimpur. The last Zamindar of Kashimpur was Anami Prasad Rai Chowdhury. Their zamindari covered areas of both Kashimpur and Balda. Unfortunately, there isn’t much detailed history available about this Zamindar House. If anyone has more information, please feel free to share it.
How to Get There
To visit the Kashimpur Zamindar Bari, you can take the Gazipur-Kaliakair road, get off at the Kalibari or Kashimpur bus stand, and then follow the Kashimpur Jail Road. After moving 200 meters from the Gazipur City Corporation regional office (Konabari-Kashimpur), you will reach the Kashimpur Zamindar Bari.
