Buddha Dhatu Jadi (Golden Temple) – Bandarban

Buddha Dhatu Jadi, also known as Bandarban Golden Temple, is located in Balaghat area of ​​Bandarban district in Bangladesh. Although it is known as the Golden Temple, it is not made of gold. It,s colour is golden that is why it’s name is golden temple. It is the largest Hinayana Buddhist temple in Bangladesh and has the second largest Buddha statue in Bangladesh.

Known to the locals as Kiang, this Buddhist temple is located at a distance of 4 km from Balaghat and 10 km from Bandarban Sadar. There is a lake on this hill. The name of the lake is Devta Pukur. Devta Pukur is 3 hundred and fifty feet high and has water in all seasons. According to Buddhist monks, it is the pond of the gods so there is always water here.

Buddha Dhatu Jadi Kang is one of the tourist centers of Bandarban, a land of natural beauty. This Jadi is now not only a pilgrimage site of the Buddhist community but has also become one of the most attractive spots for domestic and foreign tourists.

This pagoda offers a beautiful view of the Balaghat suburb of Bandarban and its surroundings. Apart from this, Bandarban radio station, the winding path to Bandarban Chandraghona is also spectacular. This pagoda is a symbol of modern religious architecture. Fairs are held here at certain times of the year. This pagoda or jadi is the golden temple. The pagoda is open to priests all day and is open to visitors of different religions from 5pm to 7pm. Shorts, lungi and shoes are not allowed in the temple premises.

Entrance fee is 20 taka per person.

How to get there:

Vehicles of several transport companies leave for Bandarban every day from different parts of Dhaka. You can go to Bandarban from Chittagong. Pubali and Purbani Paribahan buses run from Baddarhat to Bandarban. Then you can take a rickshaw or taxi from Bandarban bus station. Vehicles ply here from 8am to 10pm.
