Aalu Tila Guha – Khagrachari

Aalu Tila Guha (Alutila Cave) is a natural cave located in Khagrachari district of Bangladesh. Alutila  Guha (cave) is located in the Alutila or Arbari hills at an altitude of 3,000 feet above sea level, 7 km west of the main town in Matiranga upazila of Khagrachari district . The locals call it Matai Hakar or the cave of the gods. This cave is very dark and cool. The small bamboo torch in your hand is the only source of light in the cave. The bottom of the tunnel is slippery and rocky and a fountain flowing at its bottom. The cave looks a lot like an underground tunnel which is about 350 feet long. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get in and out of the cave. The height of the cave in the middle is very low so you have to crawl at one stage.

The main attraction of Alutila tourist center is its mysterious tunnel. The location of this mysterious tunnel is built at the foot of Alutila hill, 266 steps from the top of the hill. The diameter of the cave mouth is about 18 feet. If you want to go to Alutila cave, first you have to buy a ticket from the main gate. Then you have to buy a torch. After entering through the main gate, cross quite a hilly path, you will find the cave. Sandals or shoes that make your feet slippery cannot be worn because the cave stones are slippery. With an extra torch you can carry a mobile torch or torch light. Those who are thirsty for adventure and travel should visit this cave at least once in their life.

Though it’s known as Matai Hakar or the cave of the gods to the local However, as it’s located in Atulia tourist center, that’s why we know it as Alutila Cave. When visiting Khagrachari, everyone goes there at least once. This is a nice picnic spot. So it is crowded all year round. The natural beauty here is incomparable, touches the heart. If you see it, your mind will get better in a moment. Alutila is the highest mountain in Khagrachari district. Although it is called a hill, it is basically a mountain range. The former name of Alutila was Mount Arbari. Its maximum height is 3000 feet above sea level. From here you can see quite a part of Khagrachari city. Not only this, the greenery of the mountains will take away your eyes. The combination of sky, mountains and clouds has created a magical atmosphere here.

As soon as you enter this mysterious tunnel of Alutila, Two hundred-year-old banyan trees on either side of the gate will welcome you. Torches are mandatory because sunlight does not enter the mysterious cave at all. After entering through the gate of the tourist center and walking for a minute along the road on the right side, you will see a narrow mountain path. This path goes down the slope of the hill. The first surprise is waiting for you as soon as you go down this path. Suddenly a small fountain will catch your eye. The water of the shower is going down along the Jhiri towards the bottom. But here the hill people have built a dam to hold the spring water. Chase uses this water for food and other purposes.

How to go:

From Dhaka you can take Shanti, Shamoli, Hanif and other buses to Khagrachari. The rent will be 520 taka. BRTC and St. Martin Transport’s AC Bus also goes to Khagrachari.

From Khagrachari city you have to take a moon car(chander gari) or local bus to Alutila tourist center. Or you can go by CNG. So if you plan a trip to Sajak, you can visit the New Zealand para in a short time with Alutila Cave. You can also see the Hazachara fountain.
