Senapoti’s Dighi, located in Kalkini Upazila of Madaripur, is a historic 17th-century reservoir dug during the Mughal era by Islam Khan, the trusted commander of Buzurg Umed Khan, son of Subedar Shaista Khan. Though nearly 350 years old, this beautiful waterbody is fading due to lack of preservation. Despite its historical importance, no government or private initiatives have been taken to restore it, even though it has strong potential to develop into a tourist attraction.
