Located in Nobiganj of Bandar Upazila in Narayanganj district, along the bank of the Shitalakkhya River, the Kadam Rasul Dargah is one of the most notable attractions in the area.
It is believed that the mysterious footprint preserved on a stone slab inside the shrine is that of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), although this claim is subject to debate. The slab is approximately 2,400 square centimeters in size and shaped like a human foot.
According to historians, a 17th-century Afghan ruler or military commander named Masum Khan Kabuli collected this relic from an Arab merchant. The structure currently housing the footprint was built in 1777–78 AD by Ghulam Nabi, a zamindar from Dhaka. The footprint is carefully preserved at the center of the shrine. Every day, many devout Muslims visit the dargah to show their respect for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In addition to the shrine, there is also a large mosque within the complex. The architectural design of the entrance gate is especially eye-catching. Apart from Narayanganj, there are two other similar shrines in Chattogram, but the Kadam Rasul Dargah in Nobiganj is the most well-known.
How to Get There
From Dhaka’s Gulistan, take a bus to Narayanganj city. From Launch Terminal No. 2, cross the river by boat and disembark at the ghat in Bandar Upazila. From there, take a rickshaw to reach Kadam Rasul Dargah.
